SESSION 1
Can you teach an old dog new tricks?
Can you teach an old dog new tricks?
Having been around for a while, I want to reflect on how we can learn new things in life, both personally and professionally, but also fall back on the tried and tested, even with a twist. We will discuss how experience counts, but how we need to grow, whatever challenges we may face inside and outside the (teen) classroom.
About Claire Potter
Claire is Director of Teacher Training at CLIC IH Málaga & Seville. She has been teaching and training for over 30 years, and works on CELTA, DELTA & Young Learner courses. She loves teaching all ages & levels, especially teens.

SESSION 2
Let's get reading right
Let's get reading right
Let’s explore how we ‘teach’ reading. Through an interactive exploration of reading task types, we will consider the possibility that not enough consideration is taken of content ideas and too much time is spent on comprehension checking. Maybe we should focus on developing reading for joy and aim to facilitate life-long literacy positivity and get reading right.
About Katy Kelly
Katy Kelly is a freelance YL teacher trainer and materials writer, specialising in pre-primary, primary and secondary. She works in the public bilingual sector and for private education providers, in the Middle East, Europe, North Africa and Asia, delivering training on methodology, train-the trainer and CLIL. She has written curriculums, book series and online training courses and is a regular conference speaker.

On your feet! Bringing movement into the classroom
On your feet! Bringing movement into the classroom
Our teens spend a long time sitting down during the day, so why not get them up and moving while you’re helping them prepare for their English exams? In this session, we’ll look at some low-prep activities to get learners out of their seats and practising exams skills. Although aimed at teens, the activities can easily be adapted to different ages and levels.
About Teresa Bestwick
Teresa is a teacher, trainer and materials writer based in San Fernando. She’s a CPD junkie and runs two online ELT communities: one for teachers and another for trainers. In her free time, she likes early-morning walks and watching the sparrows on her terrace.

In this workshop, we take a step back and focus on the bigger picture, to better see how to move forward more effectively. We look at ways to prioritize what truly matters for you and your school amidst the constant demands around us.

Talking troubles, teaching and testing
Talking troubles, teaching and testing
In this round table discussion Q+A, we will discuss as a group the impact that «titulitis» has on our students and schools. Looking to the future, where do we stand as language schools? With dropping birth rates, online boom and increasing competition, how can we shore up our business for the future?

Previously he has held senior business development roles at Cambridge Assessment, as well as a full variety of responsibilities in ELT and Language Travel from teacher and DOS to manager and Director.
